I Think We’re Alone Now

Category: Fantasia,Reviews

Holy shit! That basically sums up my reaction to this excellent American documentary.

Remember Tiffany, the ’80s pop star? Well, Jeff and Kelly sure do. In fact they are crazo-level obsessed with her. Stalkers basically, although Kelly resists the label and Jeff thinks… well, something to do with government conspiracy.

The concept sounds hilarious and there were moments of amusement but they were balanced by moments of deep sadness which turned to horror. My emotions ran the gamut with this one and I literally laughed and cried, and then almost quivered with fear.

Apparently there has been some controversy and some people think the subjects in this film are being exploited but I disagree. Sean Donnelly, the director was there for a Q&A and he defended his position and revealed that he is actually friends with these individuals. The whole idea for the movie came about because he thought his friend Jeff was a worthy subject for a documentary. He genuinely seemed to care about these people and they have seen the movie and approve of it. Kelly just wants to know when she’s getting paid but as of yet, Donnelly has only lost money on the project.

I encourage you to see this film and help him out. I really enjoyed it and found these individuals to be a worthy subject of examination. The film is told from their point of view and the idea is not to analyze them but to let them speak for themselves and express their affection for Tiffany. Poor, hardworking, kind-hearted Tiffany, whose manager refuses to let her see the film because he doesn’t want her to get scared. Wise choice.

    yeah yeah, sounds great.
So did you see SYTYCD last night?
What do you think about the competitor switch? Is the injury real or did she just have a nervous break down?? who are YOU rooting for? I have still to pick a favorite and am left not realy caring every episode :/

I think Jessica’s injury is real but maybe she got injured because she was so stressed from the judges being assholes all the time. Or maybe she was injured all along and that’s why she was dancing badly, although I never thought she was bad. I’m pissed that she’s out and Comfort is in because I have an unreasonable dislike for Comfort. I don’t even know why I don’t like her, I just don’t.

I agree this season isn’t as exciting as last season but I’m still into it. My favourites are Joshua and Katee.

Well I must say I was a little surprised at the girl who went home. She was so cute…I guess she was TOO cute for America. I’m not a big fan of Comfort either (zzz)
I’m so sick of her solos, but you have to give her credit for coming back to the show even, must be tough knowing people don’t like you.

I like Joshua and Katee too, and Will chest..I mean Wills dancing 🙂

Nobody puts Comfort in the corner.

I agree, though. Comfort isn’t as awesome as the others. I dunno about switching the pairs–it seems like they destroyed some awesome combos (especially Joshua and Katee).

But Katee was great with Will as well. I think the couple that suffered the most from the split was Gev and Courtney. They had great chemistry together that made up for the fact that neither of them was the best dancer.
But I like that they mix up the couples because it forces the dancers to prove they can still dance well regardless of who they are dancing with. And sometimes it proves that they can’t. Another couple that suffered from being split was Twitchington.
